Our Company
Built around the belief that better listening leads to better business.
Cobalt Mynah was founded in Kuala Lumpur to give Malaysian businesses a quiet, steady partner for understanding and improving the customer experience.
Our Story
Where Cobalt Mynah came from
Cobalt Mynah was established in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of practitioners who had spent years working inside organisations — watching how easily the thread between a business and its customers can fray, quietly and without anyone noticing until it is too late.
The name comes from the common myna, a bird known across Malaysia for its sharp attention and its responsiveness to its surroundings. We chose it as a quiet nod to what we do: pay careful attention to the signals that organisations often miss.
Our work began with a single observation — that most customer experience problems are not failures of intent. Businesses want to serve their customers well. The gap tends to be one of visibility: teams cannot see the experience from the customer's side, and customers rarely say directly what is not working. We bridge that gap through structured observation, mapping, and measured advice.
We keep our practice small and focused on purpose. We do not pursue every advisory topic — only the specific territory of how customers experience a business across its touchpoints. That focus means our tools, language, and methods are well-worn and tested for this work, not adapted from somewhere else.
Our Mission
"To help Malaysian businesses see their service through their customers' eyes — and act on what they find with confidence and care."

How We Work
Standards we hold ourselves to
These are not credentials we list for appearances. They describe how we approach every engagement, every time.
Data Privacy & Confidentiality
All client information — operational, personnel, and customer data — is handled under a formal confidentiality agreement. We do not retain or reference client materials after an engagement closes.
Clear Scope Agreements
Before any engagement begins, we agree in writing on what is included, what is outside scope, and what the deliverables will look like. No ambiguity about what you are paying for.
Staff-Centred Observation
When observational work involves your team, we brief them openly on what we are doing and why. People work with us, not around us — which produces better findings and less disruption.
Impartial Findings
Our findings are based on observation and evidence, not on what would lead to a larger follow-on engagement. We have no incentive to exaggerate problems or minimise them.
Tailored Deliverables
Reports and maps are written specifically for your organisation — your terminology, your context, your team's capacity to act. We do not recycle frameworks from previous clients.
Ongoing Communication
You will not wait weeks to hear how an engagement is progressing. We provide regular updates and are accessible for questions throughout — not only at formal review points.
Our Expertise
Customer experience advisory in the Malaysian business context
Customer experience advisory sits at the intersection of service design, organisational behaviour, and operational reality. It is a discipline that requires both structured methodology and sensitivity to the specific way relationships work in a given context. In Malaysia, that context includes language considerations, the value placed on indirect communication, relationship-based trust, and service expectations that differ markedly across industries and demographics.
Cobalt Mynah builds its advisory practice around this local texture. Journey mapping sessions draw on how customers actually describe their experience — not how Western frameworks expect them to. Service quality reviews pay attention to the interpersonal dynamics that shape how staff and customers interact in Malaysian workplaces. Experience improvement programmes are designed to be sustainable within the resourcing realities of Malaysian SMEs and mid-market businesses.
Our work sits firmly in the advisory and educational space. We provide structured information, tools, and frameworks — not operational management or regulated professional services. The value we add is in helping your leadership team see more clearly, think more carefully, and act more deliberately on the customer experience your business delivers.
